Terms of service

Last updated: March 22, 2026

Welcome to CareNav.io (“CareNav,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using our website at carenav.io (the “Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site.

Use of the site

For families and consumers

CareNav provides information about nursing home facilities to help families make informed decisions. The Site is free to use for families and does not require registration. The information displayed on the Site is provided for informational purposes only and should not be considered medical, legal, or financial advice. Families should conduct their own research and consult with qualified professionals before making care decisions.

For facility administrators

Facility administrators may claim their facility listing and subscribe to a paid plan to enhance their visibility on CareNav. By claiming a facility, you represent that you are authorized to act on behalf of that facility. Providing false information during the claim verification process may result in denial of the claim and suspension from the platform.

Information accuracy

CMS data

Star ratings, inspection results, staffing data, and quality measures displayed on CareNav are sourced directly from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CareNav does not modify, editorialize, or selectively present CMS data. While we make reasonable efforts to keep this data current through regular synchronization, there may be a delay between CMS publishing updated data and it appearing on CareNav. CareNav is not responsible for inaccuracies in CMS data.

Reviews

Family reviews displayed on CareNav are sourced from Google Places. CareNav does not filter, edit, or selectively display reviews. Reviews reflect the opinions of individual reviewers and do not represent the views of CareNav.

AI-generated content

CareNav uses artificial intelligence to analyze publicly available reviews and generate summary insights for each facility. These summaries are clearly labeled as AI-generated and are intended to help families quickly understand common themes in reviews. AI-generated summaries may not perfectly capture every nuance of the source reviews and should be considered alongside the original reviews and CMS data, not as a replacement for them.

Facility-submitted content

Content submitted by facility administrators (descriptions, photos, contact information, amenities) is clearly labeled as “Provided by facility” on the Site. CareNav reviews facility-submitted content for compliance with our content guidelines but does not independently verify claims made by facilities about their services or amenities.

Subscriptions and payments

Facility subscriptions are billed through Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to pay the applicable fees. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing management portal in your facility dashboard. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods.

CareNav reserves the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers. Price changes do not apply to the current billing period.

Content guidelines for facilities

Facility administrators who submit content through their dashboard agree to the following: all content must be truthful and not misleading, content must not disparage other facilities or CareNav, content must not include false claims about ratings, licensing, or regulatory status, photos must accurately represent the facility, and content must comply with applicable healthcare advertising regulations. CareNav reserves the right to reject, remove, or modify any facility-submitted content that violates these guidelines. Repeated violations may result in suspension of editing privileges or account termination.

Search ranking

Search results on CareNav are ranked by a combination of subscription tier and objective factors including CMS star ratings and distance from the search location. Facilities with active paid subscriptions receive higher placement in search results than facilities without subscriptions. Within each tier, facilities are ranked by CMS rating and proximity. This ranking methodology is disclosed to both families and facility administrators.

Intellectual property

The CareNav name, logo, design, and original content are the property of CareNav. CMS data is public information provided by the federal government. Google Reviews are the property of their respective authors and Google. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute content from the Site without permission, except for CMS data which is in the public domain.

Limitation of liability

CareNav is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. CareNav does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information on the Site. CareNav is not responsible for decisions made based on information found on the Site. In no event shall CareNav be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CareNav and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the Site or violation of these Terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
